‘Coiffes’ are French headdresses made of lace. The headdress design varies by region. I became fascinated with the artistry, craftsmanship and beauty that went into making these headdresses that were worn every day. After filling entire notebooks with charcoal sketches of every kind of coiffe, I turned them into a postcard design (featuring my great great grandmother wearing her coiffe on the back).
